Activities at Moraine State Park & Lake Arthur :: Moraine State Park Pennsylvania

State parks like Moraine offer exciting opportunities for the simplest and often times highest rewarding of all activities, wildlife watching. Patience and a keen eye (binoculars are a plus!) are all that's required. Look for herons, egrets, and belted kingfishers preying on minnows and fish fry. In the early spring, common loons stop at the lake on their migration north. On any given day you may get the chance to observe osprey "fishing" or one of Moraine's resident bald eagles soaring over the lake. While you're almost certain to see a groundhog or two on your visit, lucky visitors may catch a glimpse of fox or deer. Of course, there are plenty of other things to do here...

BIKE TRAILS & RENTALS A paved, seven-mile bicycle trail winds along the shore of Lake Arthur, through scenic woodlands and past marinas and beaches. Rentals are available on the North Shore.		BOAT TOURS & CRUISES Come and take a ride on Nautical Nature, a 45-passenger enclosed pontoon boat and Moraine State Park’s premier attraction.
BOATING & MARINAS Lake Arthur has ample room for all sorts of water craft; motor boats, sail boats, paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, rowboats and rafts. Bring your own or rent one here.		BUTTERFLY TRAIL Discover our exciting self-guided trail and learn about the area's native plants and butterflies, some of which are endangered species.
CABINS & CAMPING Renting a cabin in a Pennsylvania state park is a great way to have a relaxing, enjoyable time in the out-of-doors. Cabin rentals are available year round. PICNICS & PAVILIONS There's nearly always a picnic table waiting for you at Moraine, and if you have a large group or family reunion, you can even reserve a picnic pavilion or picnic grove.		PROJECTS & PROGRAMS MPF has undertaken and completed many projects which benefit the Park and the environment, including Osprey Reintroduction, the Barn Owl Program and Project Batitat.
REGATTA AT LAKE ARTHUR Every August the Regatta at Lake Arthur is two days of boat races, entertainment, hot air balloons, fireworks and more!		SIGHTSEEING Southwestern Pennsylvania boasts incredible scenery, steeped in history. Come and explore the vistas and overlooks, waterfalls and gorges, forests and prairies!
SWIMMING/BEACHES Splashing around in water is a great way to cool off on a hot day, and swimming laps is great exercise. Moraine offers two beaches.		TRAILS, TRAILS, TRAILS Moraine's trails lead to beautiful vistas of Lake Arthur, by wetlands bubbling with life, through evergreens and forests, and to uncountable adventures.
WIND SURFING Barber Point, near the Lakeview Beach, is popular for windsurfing due to stronger winds and sparse boat traffic. A state park launching permit is required for wind surfboards.		WINTER ACTIVITIES There is a certain sense of peace and tranquility in the park during this time of year, and the views can be breathtaking. Sledding is always a popular activity!
