Join the Park Naturalists to learn how bats play an important role in our environment, then afterwards let's give bats a helping hand by erecting 4 new bat nesting boxes here at the Park. As mysterious and misunderstood as bats are to people, they play an important role in our environment. Bats are vital in maintaining the population of night-time flying insects that can have devastating impacts on our food supply throughout the world. Bats are also super beneficial in controlling mosquito populations that can pose health problems to humans. A single little brown bat can consume 600 insects an hour. Bats are in trouble and their populations are seriously in decline, so come on out and give our friends of the night-time sky a helping hand. Please allow for approximately 20 additional minutes to get to Moraine Outdoor Center from exit 422.
Cool, quiet summer mornings are a great time to catch glimpses of some of Moraine’s wary wildlife.
